I have not found any other app with this type of problem. I am hesitant to upgrade my Laptop for fear it gets borked as well. I have even run 'restorecon' on the desktop unit to ensure it was not a selinux issue. The F37 OS versions are 6.2.86_64 on my Laptop and 6.2.86_64 on my Desktop. Since the /usr/bin/vlc actually works when invoked from a user's terminal, I know the executable is fine. Permissions are the same as for other similar apps. Both vlc.desktop files under /usr/share/applications/ are identical on both machines. I have checked invoking it from the terminal and it works. There is an app showing the correct icon in the applications menus. Now the GUI version will not start on my Desktop. VLC worked initially on both machines fine. making some time available for handling those events? So isn't this then actually the correct solution? (At least until his "ideal solution" could be implemented).I recently upgraded to F37 on my Laptop and my Desktop. , isn't "capping the time taken per frame" exactly achieving this, i.e. Qt's event loop needs "a bit of idle time" to handle events from the windowing system So is the insertion of a 5 ms lag between the frames. The reduction of frame rate or capping the time taken per frame are just kludges that don't really solve the problem, only hide it. On my system (M1 MacBookPro18,3, 16 GB RAM), it seems to be sufficient to set maximum_fps to 20fps, both on internal (3024x1964 Retina) and external (1920 x 1200) displays, with DSO images and equatorial grid turned on. This actually helped me quite a lot, too (I had previously not tried this because another user had reported that it basically didn't solve the issue). YES! If I set my minimum and maximum fps to 10, the fps is obviously a little low, but the responsiveness is perfect!
